The ASUS U30Jc notebook reaches highest green standard certification to become the first major international PC brand to receive Japan’s Eco Mark

The ASUS U30Jc notebook was awarded the Japan Environmental Association’s Eco Mark award in September 2010. This makes it the first notebook from a major manufacturer to be recognized in Japan for its environmentally-friendly credentials.
Established in 1996, the Eco Mark is the most widely recognized green certification in Japan and it rates products and manufacturing processes according to a number of environmental criteria. It is the most well known ‘ecolabel’ in the country, with about 92% of the population recognizing the brand.
For personal computers, areas such as energy efficiency, noise emission, manufacturing materials and product packaging are considered as part of the certification process. In order to obtain Eco Mark approval, the product may not contain any one of seven volatile organic compounds and five CFC compounds, and its manufacturing facilities must also adhere to local environmental regulations.
The ASUS U30Jc incorporates a variety of environmental features, making it a true green product:
• Mercury-free LCD display
• LED-backlight surpasses Energy Star 5.0 requirements for energy efficiency by 47%*
• ASUS Super Hybrid Engine technology reduces overall energy consumption by up to 15%*
• Product packaging adheres to substance restrictions and environmentally-sound materials, with 80% the paper used being recycled
The ASUS U30Jc is also registered as EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) gold level, and has been awarded the European (EU) Ecolabel for its high environmental standards.
