Western Digital Caviar Black HDD range in SA
500GB 750GB and 1TB models available
Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has announced the immediate availability of Western Digital’s flagship SATA (serial ATA) range, the WD Caviar Black which features 7200 RPM and is available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities.
The 3.5inch SATA hard drive has been designed for desktop, workstation and multi-drive system applications and features low power consumption.
The WD Caviar Black drives combine 7200 RPM with the SATA 3 Gb/s interface and 32 MB cache. “Resellers will be able to offer these powerful drives as part of a high-end OEM desktop system as well as to users that require speed, capacity and performance without the resultant power consumption,” says Vassen Naicker, WD product specialist at DCC.
The Caviar Black series comes with a number of security features such as Data Lifeguard which offers shock protection, an environmental protection system and real-time embedded error detection and repair.
