Intel selects Onyx Display Media to showcase cutting edge retail technology at international trade fair

Onyx Display Media will be demonstrating its ground-breaking Patent Pending Oynx Glass solution, supported by Intel technology, at Venditalia 2014 in Milan.

Intel has formally announced that is has selected South African display technology pioneer, Onyx Display Media, to showcase its ground-breaking Onyx Glass© solution at Venditalia, a prominent international vending trade show due to take place in Milan, Italy, from May 7-10.

This year the historical city will host the 9th iteration of this specialist occupational fair, which is hosted every two years and incorporates over 300 exhibitors. Only 24 of these stem from global markets.

The decision to incorporate Onyx Display Media as one of only eight international vending partners to participate on the Intel display area at Venditalia was motivated by an international search for dynamic organisations that are pushing the envelope within the technology and vending sector.

Invitations to participate were highly dependent on a strong demonstration of user experience, transactional functionality and a proven business model.

Onyx Display Media will be showcasing its own unique Onyx-Glass© solution – an interactive transparent LCD platform that displays High Definition video content and can be retrofitted to any existing glass panel – and is completely independent of any external light source.

The offering incorporates Intel Retail Client Manager, Intel Audience Impression Metric (AIM) and Galileo – a microprocessor board based on the Intel® Quark System On Chip X1000 platform.

Intel’s AIM suite gives brands and retailers the power to understand how shoppers respond to visual messaging whilst moving through retail environments or consumer spaces. By employing anonymous sensors the platform profiles viewers as they browse items, sorting behaviours in real time according to broad variables including gender, age range and viewing time.

This replaces costly human based retail research while raising the bar for the insight available from machine based counting systems.
