Enterprise-class productivity just got even more mobile with the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 from distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC). Measuring just 15.9mm thick and with a starting weight of less than 1,5kg, the EliteBook 1040 is the thinnest and most portable HP business Ultrabook yet. Packed with business features, the EliteBook 1040 boasts the latest 4th Generation Intel Dual-Core i5 and i7 processors with up to 8 Gigabytes (GB) of Random Access Memory (RAM). Furthermore, the hard drive includes up to 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD) storage and a 14-inch full High Definition (HD) display. The EliteBook 1040 is the ultimate enterprise Ultrabook.

“The new generation EliteBook Folio is thinner and lighter than its predecessor by a considerable margin. Not only is it highly portable, it is also very powerful with top of the range specifications and superior performance. In addition, it includes enterprise-class features such as docking capabilities and premier security for enhanced data protection. In a market where mobility is critical to competitive edge, the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 is the fast-paced businessman’s best friend,” says Francois van Wijk, HP PSG Business Unit Manager at DCC.

Integrated SSD ensures fast boot up and practically instant ‘resume’ from sleep mode, while a six-cell Polymer Long Life battery keeps users productive for longer on the move with up to 12-hours of battery life. DTS Studio Sound, integrated speakers and a built-in webcam allow users to be part of Video Conferences (VC), web-based training and stream videos with smooth quality, while a backlit, spill-resistant keyboard allows users to work even in low-lighting conditions. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and integrated mobile broadband with 3G and 4G (LTE) support, along with two USB 3.0 ports and DisplayPort connection.

Users can also select Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 as their Operating System (OS) of choice, and a new multi-gesture touchpad allows users to take advantage of similar gestures as when using a smartphone or tablet. Enterprise docking capabilities enable a display, a keyboard, a mouse, additional ports or printers to be connected quickly and simply, without the hassle of multiple USB connections.

Security is taken care of with a number of leading features. HP Sure Start restores productivity and reduces the need for IT helpdesk calls in the event of a Binary Operating System (BIOS) attack or corruption, while automated features such as BIOSphere reduce downtime for improved productivity. The EliteBook 1040 also incorporates HP’s Client Security Portfolio, which includes HP Drive Encryption, HP Devices Access Manager with Just in Time Authentication, and HP Secure Erase. In addition, HP Trust Circles protects data by ensuring that only approved contacts can access critical files.

“The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 lets users function at maximum productivity levels no matter where they are – at the office, on the road, and even in transit on trains and aeroplanes. With top of the range specifications, a thin and light form factor, and military standard certification for drop, shock, vibration, dust, humidity, altitude and temperature, this UltraBook is the ultimate road warrior,” van Wijk concludes.

The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 is available immediately from selected resellers and leading retailers for a recommended retail price of R28 000.00 including VAT for the top of the range model.
