The entire Direct–to–Home (DTH) and Pay-TV signal distribution industry (not just Sentech) has to contend and deal with the universal piracy problem that comes with the territory on an ongoing basis.

On Thursday, 12 November 2009 Sentech management and staff from the East London Transmission Control Centre handed over a R10 000 cheque to the King Williams Town Children’s Home.

On 01 October 2009 Sentech staff in George responded to a mother’s appeal to accommodate her two children by donating and fitting in a Wendy House to the amount of R16 000 for the family.

Sentech can confirm that e.tv is temporarily unavailable on the bouquet of channels offered on the company’s Vivid Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite service. Technical improvements are being made to improve the security of the service.

An article titled “pay up or no tv” that appeared on the Swazi Observer on 17 June 2009 reported that a blackout of television channels would be experienced soon as a result of Sentech upgrading its digitalisation system in preparation for 2010.

The SABC is a valued Sentech client and has not at any stage defaulted on its financial obligations. Sentech would not take any action that would jeopardise a long standing and mutually beneficial relationship.

The switch-on from analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) on the 1st November 2008 means reaching a major milestone in broadcast signal distribution.
