When will the Apple iPad hit SA?

According to news in the UK, exceptionally high demand for the iPad tablet has forced Apple to postpone the expected delivery date of the device for the second time, pushing it from the 7th of June to an unspecified date.

This could mean that Apple has seriously underestimated the forecasted number of iPads it would sell. It has already sold more than one million in the US in the first 28 day period and some estimate that it is selling as many as 200,000 iPads a day.

The iPad will be launched this Friday in the UK and only the initial batch of customers will be able to get their hands on the God-like device on the launch date. Otherwise they will have to wait a few weeks.

Both the Wi-Fi and the 3G version have been hit by the delay. Apart from Apple, DSGi’s stores will also stock the device from the first day although it’s uncertain how many of them will actually have the device in stock and in sufficient quantity.

With delays in the UK, one wonders when the device will officially be launched in South Africa.
