Apple gives users an SD slot
Apple yesterday announced that it will be updating its Mac Book Pro line to include 13 inch, 15 inch and 17 inch models.
The updates are pinned to deliver up to 40% more battery life than previous models.
Each Mac Book Pro includes an LED backlit display, a glass Multi Touch track pad, backlit keyboard, Firewire 800 connectivity and NVIDEA graphics solutions.
Apple has elected to add an SD card slot to all of the updated models, an addition that many Apple fans have had on their wish list for a while.
The new 13 inch Mac Book Pro is also set to replace the original aluminium Mac Book although it will retail at a lower suggested retail price of $1 119 (R9 131).
Each Mac Book pro is set to retain the current unibody aluminium design but will now hold the capacity to be upgraded to 8GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive or a 256GB solid state drive. Each device will run on an Intel Core 2 Duo system ranging from 2.26 GHz with 3MB of shared L2 cache in the 13 inch to a 2.8GHz with 6MB of shared L2 cache in the 17 inch (upgradable to 3.06GHz).
Apple has also made a few improvements to the new Mac Books which makes for a more environmentally-friendly product. Across the range the LED displays are mercury free and are made with arsenic-free glass.
Each Mac Book Pro will ship standard with Apple iLife 09, iMovie and Garage band.
Although no official announcement regarding local pricing and availability of the updated models has yet been made, Apple has released suggested retail prices.
