New data centre UPS available locally
APC has unveiled the new APC Symmetra PX 250/500kW Three-Phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system for the data centre market.
Offering high efficiency, nearly silent operation and N+1 redundancy, the APC Symmetra PX 250/500kW is the world’s first modular UPS system that easily scales in 25kW increments up to 500kW.
“Reducing energy consumption and conserving space are key drivers for virtualisation, and employing modular power is critical to maximising those efficiency gains,” says Rodney Callaghan, MD: Southern Africa at APC by Schneider Electric. “The addition of the Symmetra PX 250/500kW furthers APC’s lead in scalable power protection by providing high levels of availability and manageability with the lowest total cost of ownership.”
The new Symmetra offers 25kW ultra-high efficiency double conversion online inverter power modules, extended life hot-swap batteries, a large touch-screen graphical user interface and a side-mounted maintenance bypass panel with subfeed distribution.
The APC Symmetra PX 250/500kW UPS will be available in Europe, Middle and Africa from July 2009 in configurations scaling from 25kW to 500kW. This new solution is highly manageable through APC’s comprehensive management solutions, including InfraStruXure Central. A browser accessible, user-friendly tool, InfraStruXure Central provides monitoring of power, cooling, and environmental management at the rack or room level.
