Company expands virtualisation capabilities

Lenovo and VMWare partner to deliver virtualisation

Today at VMworld 2009, Lenovo and VMware announced an agreement to provide VMware vSphere 4 on Lenovo ThinkServer offerings globally.

Starting in the fourth quarter of 2009, Lenovo will distribute and market VMware vSphere 4 through Lenovo’s sales channels.

“With an increased focus on streamlining efficiency and maximizing scalability, many of our customers are looking to consolidate their servers through virtualization,” said Tom Tobul, executive director, Enterprise, Software and Peripherals, Lenovo. “Providing VMware’s solutions directly to our customers with our ThinkServers will help them to optimize their servers’ performance while reducing server sprawl and lowering operating and maintenance costs.”

“VMware provides an excellent platform for running business-critical applications, and we believe VMware vSphere™ 4 is the ideal way to guide customers along their journey to cloud computing,” said Carl Eschenbach, executive vice president of worldwide field operations, VMware. “By expanding our relationship with Lenovo, customers will have convenient access to the efficiency, control and choice enabled in VMware vSphere™ 4 on high-performance and reliable Lenovo ThinkServers.”
