McAfee releases Unified Threat Management Firewalls locally

The McAfee division at Workgroup has announced the local availability of McAfee’s Unified Threat Management Firewalls, which are multifunctional network security appliances designed specifically for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs).

Formerly referred to as SnapGear, these appliances are available in seven different models for SMBs and come integrated with intrusion prevention, network firewall protection and VPN services.

This is according to Andrea van der Westhuizen, McAfee product manager at Workgroup who says that optional models include enterprise-class technology such as TrustedSource reputation rating for mail filtering, and Web filtering for protection against known and unknown threats, which can include anti-malware, anti-spyware, and anti-virus capabilities.

“They can be easily deployed in remote substations, such as large enterprises branch offices or retail locations, or at a vendor’s site to provide strong authentication of devices attempting to access critical assets,” says Van der Westhuizen.
