HD desktop phone market in SA

High definition desktop phones gaining traction in SA

Polycom has announced that it will now offer a full portfolio of high definition enabled desktop phones with the introduction of two new products – the Polycom SoundPoint IP 335 desktop phone and the Polycom CX300 desktop phone.

Jim Kruger Vice President of Marketing, Polycom Voice Communications Solutions says, “We put our customers at the centre of everything we do. In order to protect their investments, we are future proofing all of our products by including Polycom HD across our product line, from the desktop to the conference room. Our customers have the flexibility to deploy the UC network of their choice with the added confidence that Polycom voice and visual communications solutions will fit within that environment and offer the ultimate UC experience.”

The SoundPoint IP 335 completes Polycom’s portfolio of open SIP, standards-based desktop phones featuring Polycom HD Voice. The CX300 is the newest addition to the CX product family optimised for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and rounds out Polycom’s portfolio of Microsoft Office Communicator-optimised devices.

“Polycom is a leader among independent SIP desktop phone vendors. IP desktop phones are rapidly proliferating in the enterprise market today, as a part of growing demand for end-to-end unified communications solutions. These new solutions provide customers the flexibility to deploy high-quality Polycom desktop phones regardless of the UC platform they choose to implement,” says Paul Waadevig, Senior Consultant, Unified Communications, Frost & Sullivan.
