MSI U123 released

A new netbook from MSI – the U123 – has made its way to market

Pinnacle Africa has announced the launch of the MSI U123 Series Wind Netbook. The product features an Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor operating on a 667MHz front side bus, up to a 160GB HDD, 2GB of DRAM, and a 10” 1024×600 resolution display.

For mobile connectivity, the U123 Series have been fitted with 802.11b/g/n WiFi and 3.5G mobile network cards, as well as bluetooth (U123H model only). An integrated TV tuner allows the watching and recording of TV programs on the U123T.

The U123 series screen use LED backlighting with power-saving technology to extend battery life. The frame is approximately 26 cm in length and 18 cm in width and 33 mm in thickness. The total weight with the battery is less than 1 kg.

Through the use of the U123 webcam, the Easy Face Manager scans the face of the user for security identification purposes. Easy Face Manager will also help to conserve power, by putting the device in to standby mode when the user has stepped away.

For expansion and data transfer, the U123 has a 4-in-1 card reader and USB 2.0 ports. The recommended retail price is R4 895 including VAT.
