Workgroup partners with Veeam Software

In a move that will reshape its offering in the virtualisation spectrum, local distribution house, Workgroup, has announced that it is now an official distributor of the Veeam Software range of solutions.

Veeam, a provider of systems management tools for VMware virtual data centre environments, provides software for managing VMware vSphere 4 and Virtual Infrastructure 3, making the company an ideal partner for Workgroup’s virtualisation division.

“Veeam offers a range of tools that address the challenges faced by administrators operating in virtual infrastructure circles,” says Angeline De Castro, business unit manager at Workgroup.

“Under the agreement, Workgroup will distribute Veeam’s full line of virtualisation data protection and systems management software products throughout South Africa enhancing our value proposition and furthering Veeam’s reach in the South African channel.”

Colin Fisher, regional director for northern EMEA at Veeam says Workgroup is recognised as a value added distributor in South Africa and for its thorough understanding of and capacity to deliver in virtualisation circles.

“Workgroup’s mission to empower its channel partners by adding value to the solutions offered to its customers and the fact that our product set marries so simply with their existing relationship with VMware made this distribution agreement a simple one to sign,” he says.

Workgroup’s De Castro concurs: “Veeam’s comprehensive range of products has become a valued addition to our growing solutions portfolio and will further enable our channel partners to safeguard their client’s investments in virtual infrastructures.”

One product bundle that is of particular interest to her is Veeam’s nWorks range of software solutions – namely, nWorks Management Pack 5.0 for Microsoft Operations Manager and nWorks Smart Plug-in 5.0 for HP Operations Manager.

“These two products allow users to leverage their investments in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and HP Software Operations Manager to confidently give operations personnel the ability to assume routine VMware infrastructure monitoring.

“This frees up VMware professionals to focus on troubleshooting, capacity planning and other specialised tasks,” De Castro adds. “nWorks Collector users do not require agent software on ESX hosts, which eliminates any risk of agent software impacting ESX availability including direct support of ESXi.”
