Best VoIP Hardware
Zycko, an official South African distributor of Polycom voice communication solutions has announced that the Polycom VVX (Voice Video Experience) 1500 D won Best Voice over IP (VoIP) Hardware at the 2009 ITSPA (Internet Telephony Service Provider’s Association) award ceremonies held in London on the 10th of December 2009 at the House of Commons in Parliament. Glynn Jones, Polycom’s RVP of Sales for NEMEA, was on hand to accept the award from Trefor Davies, Chief Technology Officer of Timico Ltd. The Polycom VVX 1500 D was previously named a finalist in two award categories: Best VoIP Hardware as well as Most Innovative VoIP Product.
Says Fiona McLean-Banks, Polycom Business Development Manager at Zycko: “This award recognises the groundbreaking technology that Polycom has brought to the market with the launch of the VVX 1500 D business media phone. It is exciting to see the product honoured by the ITSPA, an industry body highly representative of the VoIP community in the UK. We are looking forward to seeing the VVX 1500 D alter the business communication landscape in South Africa”.
Awards were presented in five categories representing different areas of the Voice over IP (VoIP) and unified communications industry. The Polycom VVX 1500 D beat the Cisco SPA525G phone, which was also named a finalist.
The winning product builds on Polycom’s portfolio of innovative business media phones as the industry’s first simultaneous dual-stack (H.323 and SIP) device. The Polycom VVX 1500 D is an affordable, easy-to-use personal video conferencing system that enables users to make instant business-grade video calls with a simple touch of the screen.
Founded in 2004, ITSPA is the United Kingdom’s industry body for Internet Telephony Service Providers. ITSPA represents network operators, service providers, and other businesses involved with the supply of VoIP services to business and residential customers within the UK.
With the rapid growth of the VoIP community in the UK and the many regulatory issues involved, ITSPA’s founding members recognised the need for a trade association to help promote and represent the interests of the industry.
The ITSPA Awards program, now in its second year, has been well received by the VoIP community as a useful opportunity to recognise the success stories within the industry each year.
