Security for service providers and enterprises

New Firmware release 4.0 enhances administration of multi-tenant services and site-to-site email encryption

LOOPHOLD Security Distribution, the local distributor of Barracuda Networks products in southern Africa, has announced the addition of new features to the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall that are targeted at larger service provider and enterprise customers. These include delegated administration for multi-tenant services, new administrative roles for help desk personnel, and enforcement of granular site-to-site email encryption policies.

Says Martin Tassev, MD of LOOPHOLD Security Distribution: “The new features allow increased customisation, simplified administration and reduces overall costs. These additional features make the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall an ideal and affordable multi-tenant solution for larger organisations that require flexibility and increased efficiency”.

Delegated domain administration enables customers of service providers offering spam and virus filtering services based on Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewalls to customise their own filtering policy, deliver blocked email and run traffic reports. Individual domain administrators can also delegate responsibility to their own help desk employees to support their own user populations. By delegating administrative tasks, service providers can reduce their own help desk costs while offering more flexibility to their end customers.

Delegated domain administration is available with Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall 600 models and higher, while Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall 300 models and higher will now feature domain help desk roles.

Formerly restricted to global policy management, the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall now enables administrators to specify email encryption requirements between specified sender and recipient domains, enabling administrators to force encryption between close business partners, while allowing unencrypted communication with others.
