Workgroup named VMware Distributor of the Year

Local VMware distributor, Workgroup, has been named the VMware Distributor of the Year 2010 for sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa. This accolade recognises Workgroup’s advances in operational excellence and value-added distribution across the region.

What this award showcases, says Angeline Rustin, business unit manager at Workgroup, is Workgroup’s value as a VMware partner in global sales, service, support and marketing efforts.

“We believe it is our knowledge of the African software landscape that has motivated much of the considerable market traction realised in this region over the last year,” she adds. “Naturally, we are delighted to represent VMware in the sub-Saharan Africa and South African regions and it is our strong relationships with the relevant channel players and willingness to go above and beyond for our vendor that has landed us in this stead.

“It is Workgroup’s mandate to go to market with innovative solutions, such as those from VMware and a key factor to our success has been VMware’s support of Workgroup and its customers.”

Workgroup MD, Doug Woolley is as pleased with Workgroup’s performance over the last few years, especially considering this is one in a long line of similar accolades awarded to the company – who is often acknowledged as a force to be reckoned with in South Africa by industry giants like Microsoft, Novell and IBM.

“These awards serve as high recognition of our efforts and this latest one is a reflection of the VMware team’s tremendous achievements and relentless commitment to the VMware brand,” he says. “We anticipate that the team’s fervent dedication to the brand will not abate and I look forward to similar performance-based awards adorning our trophy shelves in 2011.”
