World’s First Wideband Multi-cell DECT System launches in SA
MIA Telecoms, the sole distributor of Samsung telecommunication and PABX equipment in Sub-Saharan Africa, has launched a new ISERV IP DECT, a VoIP solution targeted at Small and Medium Enterprises. The solution is designed for both hosted and physical PBX solutions and supports wideband audio as one of its main features.
MIA Telecoms managing director Bryan Driessel says ISERV IP DECT SME VoIP solution facilitates a scalability never seen before in this market segment. “It allows the system to grow from 1 to 40 bases, up to 200 wireless users, and from 10 to 200 simultaneous lines. ISERV also provides two different high quality colour screen CAT-iq handsets supporting the CAT-iq wideband audio functionality. Therefore, the customer can focus on its core business, while ISERV delivers an IP DECT solution, comprising state-of-the-art hardware and software.”
The IP DECT – SME VoIP solution supports DECT standards in all major regions in the world, it supports the current DECT standard and CAT-iq, the future version of DECT. To provide customers with the best voice quality and flexibility at the same time, the ISERV IP DECT SME VoIP solution supports various standard audio codec’s such as G.711, G.726, and G.729 and also provides CAT-iq wideband audio using G.722.
“This allows 10 handsets with standard audio or 4 handsets with superior wideband audio to use each base in the system simultaneously. The ISERV IP DECT base is furthermore backwards compatible so both narrow band (GAP) and wideband (CAT-iq) handsets can be used simultaneously. Seamless handover and repeater support are two major advantages besides characteristics such as scalability and superior audio quality,” he explains.
The system is powered over Ethernet and uses over the air synchronisation. It also supports software up-load to the wireless terminals ensuring that your handsets always are up to date with the latest software releases.
