Samsung new business to oversees digital solutions

The new organisation is aimed at enhancing cooperation and generating synergy within Samsung’s Digital Solutions component businesses focused on technology development, production, procurement and client management. Oh-hyun Kwon, currently President of Semiconductor Business, is now the President of the newly created organisation.

Through close collaboration and coordination among the memory chip, system LSI and LCD businesses, as well as the mobile display making affiliate Samsung Mobile Display Co. Ltd., the new system will help enhance competitiveness throughout Samsung’s memory and display segments.

The changes will also help Samsung’s component businesses further strengthen their independence and improve relationships with their global clients.

In his new position, President Kwon will also assume the role of the head of LCD Business at Samsung Electronics. Wonkie Chang, currently President of LCD Business, has been named Advisor to Chief Executive Officer and will assist with the production and facility innovation of the new organisation.

Jong-Kyun Shin, President of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, will assume the additional role of overseeing the company’s Digital Imaging Business. The appointment is aimed at assisting the digital camera business improve its competitiveness.

In addition, Samsung also announced the appointment of In-Hee Sung, currently the President of Samsung Human Resources Development Centre, as the CEO of Samsung Fine Chemicals Co. Ltd. CEO Sung, a talent management expert who was previously Head of Samsung Electronics’ Human Resources Department, will aid Samsung Fine Chemicals expand in electronic and environment-friendly materials businesses by recruiting and cultivating new talents.
