Vodacom CEO commits 67 minutes to Nelson Mandela Day

In celebration of Mandela Day, Pieter Uys, CEO of Vodacom and his team volunteered at the Sizanani Children’s Home this morning. Activities included the creating of a veggie tunnel, and the paving and construction of pathways for wheelchairs.

Pieter Uys commented, “Today is a special day for Vodacom, as most of our 6000 team members around the country donated their time to our various charities in honour of South Africa’s greatest leader, Nelson Mandela. Our aim for today was to give back to the communities that support Vodacom by contributing our time and resources to enhance and enrich someone’s life as part of the Mandela Day celebrations. Our role at Sizanani today was to ensure that the health and wellbeing of these wonderful people is being taken care of by installing a veggie tunnel that will produce healthy produce for the Home. Our team also helped construct paving and pathways for wheelchair access. To ensure that the children here are also able to have some fun, we installed a jungle gym too.”
