Minister of Communications to launch Mantserre post office
The Minister will be joined by the Chairperson of the Board of the South African Post Office, Miss Vuyo Mahlati and the Chief Executive Officer of the State-Owned-Enterprise, Miss Motshoanetsi Lefoka.
World Post Day is celebrated annually on 09 October, which is the day that marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss capital of Bern. This year the Department of Communications (DoC) and the South African Post Office (SAPO) have planned a number of activities throughout the month nationally.
The Minister will be launching the first ever Post Office in the Mantserre Village, the post office will serve about ten other surrounding villages, he will also be planting trees in the schools around the area.
The South African Post Office will highlight some of these services in a bus that is a mobile computer lab as well as showcasing its mobile post office.
The Department will also be informing the community about the Postbank, allowing it to extend banking services to the under-served areas especially, and encourage a culture of saving amongst citizens
