DCC adds value with new Services Division for Symantec clients

Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) is pleased to announce the formation of a new value added Symantec Services Division within the company, as of February 2012. Previously a part of the Technical department, the new division will focus on providing consultancy services to DCC’s Symantec customers and bridging the gap between the technical and sales departments.

The Symantec Services team will conduct site audits, environmental checks and installations within reseller environments, as well as assist resellers who may be experiencing skills shortages. Carina Prinsloo, previously a part of the Technical department herself, is heading up the new division. Her responsibilities include assisting clients, working with the consulting team and working closely with sales to close deals and provide a complete value added service.

“The Symantec Services Division was created to address a need in our market, since our resellers do not always have the capacity to employ certified Symantec consultants full time. By outsourcing this service to us they will be able to take advantage of the fact that all of our consultants are trained and certified in the products we support, and leverage the years of experience within DCC in both security and availability,” says Prinsloo.

Consulting services offered by the Symantec Services Division incorporate on-site workshops, architectural design, implementation and deployment of both security and availability products within the Symantec range. These products include Backup Exec, Netbackup, Symantec Endpoint Protection, PGP Symantec Encryption, Enterprise Vault and Control Compliance Suite. The division also offers site assessments and recommendations to help clients minimise risk, as well as service level agreements (SLAs) for outsourced management of backup and security environments.

“These services complement our existing product offering and help resellers to leverage more value from doing business with us. In order to keep up to date with the dynamic security and availability environment, our consultants attend on-going training and keep up to date with version upgrades in each of the supported products. We also attend Symantec workshops and demos available to Symantec partners,” says Prinsloo.

“To add further value, we are currently in the process of obtaining our ‘Master Specialisation’ status on several of our products through the Symantec Partner Programme. This will help us to differentiate ourselves further by enabling us to offer the highest level of competency and quality with regard to our consulting services,” she adds.

These services are currently only available on Symantec technologies, however there are plans in place to expand this offering to include complementary vendor technologies in the future. This will enable resellers to leverage further value from the distributor.
