Build it, upgrade it, make it your own – the innovative new HP Z1 all-in-one from DCC

Introducing the HP Z1 from Drive Control Corporation (DCC), the world’s first all-in-one workstation that snaps open to let you swap out parts and make upgrades without tools and without voiding the warranty. This powerful workhorse offers the ultimate blend of flexibility, convenience and HP’s world-class reliability, giving you all of the performance you need, when you need it, without compromise.

The HP Z1 packs a host features into a 27” diagonal LED-backlit display that houses the device’s all-in-one form factor. The latest generation of quad-core Intel Xeon processors offer server-level performance in a desktop machine, with professional NVIDIA Quadro graphics and a billion-colour display for blistering performance and viewing capability. Hard drives, graphics cards and memory can all be easily added, swapped out and upgraded and replaced with genuine HP parts. .

“With its piano black border and classic black tilt and swivel stand, the HP Z1 is stylish enough to fit in perfectly with any decor scheme. A massive screen provides large display real estate, ideal for designers, engineers and other graphical applications. But don’t let its good looks fool you, this machine has been built to perform in resource and graphic intensive environments,” says Deon Botha, HP Personal Systems Group (PSG) Manager at DCC.

The HP Z1 has all of the power of a workstation computer, without the tower. The compact design not only ensures that this machine is ergonomic, but also provides a unique design element. Simply fold down the screen onto the base, snap the case open and you can easily add, swap out or upgrade components without the need for special tools. Shock absorbers on the lid ensure that nothing is damaged when the machine is opened up.

“The upshot of this is that it increases productivity. No more wasting time in service centres for basic component service. Hard drives, random access memory (RAM) and graphics cards can be kept up to date with evolving technology. This allows users to stretch out their investment by allowing for easy upgrading of components that typically date fairly quickly, ensuring scalability of hardware on demand,” he adds.

The HP Z1 can be completely customised in terms of storage, with options including 7200 and 10 000 revolutions per minute (RPM) SATA, solid state drive (SSD) or optional redundant array of independent disks (RAID) configurations up to 2 terabyte (TB). A total of four dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slots allow for up to 32 gigabyte (GB) error correcting code (ECC) or 8 GB non-ECC unbuffered Double Data Rate (DDR)3 (DDR) RAM. Energy Star Qualified configurations are available on request.

An integrated high definition (HD) webcam enables face-to-face conferencing and quality video capture. SRS Premium Sound ensures high quality audio to accompany presentations and videos. Input and output devices include internal and external protocol control information (PCI) Express slots and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.

“From designers to architects, builders to engineers, the HP Z1 delivers extreme performance with a small footprint, stylish design and practically silent operation – perfect for the high-end power user. The computer can also be removed from its ergonomic stand and wall mounted, reducing the footprint even further. It offers the flexibility of a custom built PC with the convenience of an all-in-one device and the reliability and reputation of the legendary HP brand,” Botha concludes.

A range of screens in sizes from 24 to 27 inches is also available, featuring the same design elements as the Z1 to complement the all-in-one machine. This enables dual display capability or display replication. The HP Z1 ships standard with a three year onsite next business day warranty. It is available immediately from Drive Control Corporation at a recommended retail price starting from R20, 999, 00 inclusive of V.A.T.
