The Minister of Communications to dedicate a day to the elderly of Mpumalanga Community

As part of the Department of Communications’ 67 minutes to honour Madiba, 500 elderly persons in the community of Hazyview and surrounding areas in Mpumalanga have been identified by the Department to spend a day with Minister Ms Dina Pule.  The 500 elderly persons will receive blankets and food parcels.

This initiative seeks to alleviate poverty for the elderly and the less privileged in these targeted areas. It is also to find out what are the communications services and Government services gaps that are of concern to the community.

Minister Pule will also spend the day talking to the community about how the Department is bringing communications services to them. She will also listen to how the community wants the Government to improve the quality of the services it delivers to them.

This Public Participation Programme event will take place on Saturday, 04 August 2012 at the Tfolinhlanhla Primary School in Tshabalala Village, Hazyview, Mpumalanga. The Minister will also engage in community walk-ins around the area.

The Department is partnering with the Mbombela Local Municipality, and the State-Owned Companies that report to the Department in this initiative.
