Sasol to host speaker symposium on alternative building technologies
A Sasol ChemCity Speaker Symposium and panel discussion will be held at this year’s Eco-AfriBuild Exhibition at Nasrec Exhibition Centre from 15 to 18 August, 2012.
The symposium that will host international speakers, developers, funding institutions and regulatory organisations will stimulate constructive discussion about alternative building technologies (ABTs), and the application of the technologies in the construction industry.
Each day will host different speakers on topics ranging from application and implementation of ABTs, social acceptance of ABTs and green design and technology.
To facilitate the development and growth of ABTs, Sasol ChemCity has been extensively involved in enabling small to medium enterprises (SMEs) within the innovative building technology space in South Africa.
“This is the first time that innovative building technologies will be highlighted to create awareness and educate entrepreneurs within the construction industry,” says Serenta Ramraj, Specialist Business Analyst, Sasol ChemCity.
The Speaker Symposium will gather feedback for industry suppliers and contractors and encourage social acceptance from developers on alternative and innovative building solutions.
It will also provide a platform to talk about the changes in the National Building Regulations that took place in October 2011 and facilitate an understanding on how to interpret these new regulations, how to source the appropriate technologies and how to access relevant technical information to apply them.
