MTN portrays a truly South African connection to the nation!
MTN “Thula Thula” television advert nominated for a Pendoring Award
MTN has recently been nominated for a Pendoring Advertising Award, for its heart warming Thula Thula advertisement in the ‘Truly South African TV’ category.
Ryan Gould, General Manager Brand and Communications at MTN says; “The advert encapsulates a heart warming portrayal of a father singing the famous Thula Thula song into his phone, for his little girl falling asleep, miles away while he works a night shift. This portrayal not only resonated with our brand values of commitment to community and enabling communication access for all, but allowed us the privilege of portraying a truly South African connection to the nation – one that really resonates with the larger MTN brand.”
Established in 1994, the Pendoring Advertising Awards have become one of the most prestigious events for recognising and rewarding the creativity and impact of advertising campaigns of South African companies. With spirit and diversity being such fundamental contributors to local nation building, The Pendoring Awards have recently added the Truly South African category* to recognise advertising excellence that best embodies this pride across all 11 official languages.
“We are very proud to be nominated for a Pendoring Advertising Award in the Truly South African category and we believe that our ‘Thula Thula’ advertisement is one to which many South Africans will be able to relate to, as it reiterates that the best things in life are indeed free as per the MTN Zone Mahala,” concludes Gould.
