WD My Net family of dual-band routers offers optimised home network entertainment experience

The latest addition to Western Digital (WD)’s range of home entertainment solutions, the My Net family of dual-band routers, is now available from Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC). These easy-to-use routers feature WD exclusive FasTrack technology, which prioritises entertainment traffic on home networks. From gaming consoles to media players, smart televisions and even movie streaming, the My Net routers ensure that music, movies and games are lag- and jitter- free, for the ultimate in premium HD streaming

”My Net routers are ideal for anyone downloading or streaming a lot of digital media content, including HD movies, music and games. While they function as traditional routers as well, the real innovation is FasTrack technology, which automatically recognises and organises your entertainment in real time, delivering faster, smoother streaming and more efficient load times for anything up to Full-HD 1080p quality. This technology works by analysing incoming traffic, instantly detecting the services that need more bandwidth, and prioritising them. This helps avoid hesitations and pauses in Wi-Fi entertainment and satisfies the increasing demand for faster connectivity when streaming movies, videos, online games or chatting. FasTrack Plusin the higher end models N900 & N900 Central preserves the quality of the streaming entertainment, resulting in a brilliant HD viewing experience,” says Richard Makwela, Western Digital Product Specialist at DCC.

The My Net N-series routers are quick and easy to set up, with only three simple steps to follow. A streamlined CD setup is available for Windows operating systems, Mac devices use a browser based setup, and an intuitive interface designed for touch screens enables simple setup from smartphones and tablets. Maintenance is also simplified with built-in diagnostic tools that monitor the network, shows connected devices, analyses common connectivity issues and helps users to correct them if they occur.

“The My Net Dashboard makes it easy for users to customise, monitor or change the settings of their network. Users can access parental controls, Internet security, network name and password, printer and scanner settings, and connected storage drive settings – all in one easy view. The N-series routers also allow for the set-up of a secure wireless hotspot in the home, with levels of access controlled by password. Permissions can be set to allow only wireless web browsing, or extended to allow shared network files or access to a shared wireless printer,” Makwela adds.
