These days, most people who are in the market for a new TV face with a plethora of choices. In the past, it was easy. You could either opt for a black and white TV or make a sizable investment and purchase a colour TV. Today, there are technologies such as LED, LCD, plasma, and 3D to take into account. And that is not even considering value-added features such as Smart TV, application streaming, and various connection inputs and outputs.
But even as the global TV market is expected to grow to $14.6 billion in 2013, consumers are becoming more aware of the environmental impact their increasing electronics usage is having. On average, an LED circuit only loses 20% of electrical energy as heat, as opposed to older incandescent technology which loses 80%*. The impact on not only energy consumption but on cost is significant, where LED displays use the least energy of any flat-panel technology, and as a result LED TVs are becoming increasingly popular amongst energy conscious consumers.
