Samsung empowers business with BYOD programme

Offering secure and convenient online shopping portal for employees

In keeping with the worldwide trend of Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) to work, Samsung South Africa is providing organisations with a secure purchasing portal that will enable employees to purchase the latest Samsung products, all of which can integrate smoothly into their IT environment.

“Even in South Africa we are seeing companies allowing staff members to bring their own devices to work. The convenience of having one device to meet their business and personal requirements is a significant cost-savings exercise for the company and the employee,” says Matthew Thackrah, Deputy MD and Director of Consumer Electronics at Samsung South Africa.

As part of the Samsung offering, a company can select from several Samsung product categories that include monitors, tablets, notebooks, printers, and mobile phones to be loaded on the secure BYOD portal. Once the IT department has evaluated and approved the products to ensure they conform to company technical standards such as operating system, minimum hardware specifications, and security, they will be made available to employees for purchase.

Once an employee selects a product for purchase and the cost is approved by the relevant company departments, the order is sent to the fulfilment partner with delivery taking place within seven working days. The IT department will also receive a detailed report of the items the employees have purchased to ensure that the integrity of the network is not compromised.

By controlling the types of devices it offers employees, the company ensures that they can easily and securely be integrated into its current systems. This means that through this Samsung offering, organisations can develop an extensive BYOD strategy and still remain in control of their network security requirements, but at the same time give their employees a variety of solutions, across different product categories, to give them the flexibility and choice across both consumer and business environments.

“The BYOD programme gives employers another way to provide their staff with the widest range of devices from one convenient online shopping portal. This secure portal is regularly updated as Samsung releases new innovative products to the market. It ensures that the employer stays ahead of the curve when it comes to devices relevant for the organisation,” adds Thackrah.
