Eastern Cape FET Colleges go live on ITS Integrator
Both the Port Elizabeth and Buffalo City Further Education & Training Colleges have gone live with its implementation of ITS Integrator. This was provided by ITS Tertiary Software (Pty) Ltd (ITS), a leading independent technology solutions and services company and member of Adapt IT Group of Companies. ITS Integrator provides a rich set of functionality to enable back-office and front office operations, as well as self-service and mobile functions for students and staff.
The two new implementations of the ITS Integrator will provide the Eastern Cape FET Colleges with a comprehensive and fully integrated system, resulting in more accurate data and improved reporting capabilities. The system will streamline the day-to-day business operations at the Colleges and allow for accurate and timely reporting to the Department of Higher Education and Training.
“The projects were completed using ITS’s new revised implementation model, which aims to decrease the roll-out time to a maximum of six months,” says ITS project manager Elmarie Roos. “The process involves business mapping to ensure the client adheres to the business processes from the Department of Higher Education and Training.”
Data uploaded by ITS is verified and checked to ensure that the data in the system is accurate. Once the system has been audited, and the data upload finalised, staff training begins. The new model places greater emphasis on transactional processesing training, as well as interface training. ITS also provides post implementation support focusing on specific areas during the college’s busy periods such as timetabling development, registration and exam preparations.
The PE FET College was able to register students on the ITS Integrator this year and says the new system has vastly improved operations. “Although we are still learning how to use it to its full extent, we know we are moving in the right direction,” says PE FET College’s project manager Natasha Deysel. “We have been in constant communication with ITS and are very grateful for their help and willingness to do all they can to assist us in running smoothly,” says Deysel.
According to the Buffalo City FET College the implementation is going well: “We are still receiving training and learning how to fully utilise the system,” says manager of information systems at Buffalo City FET College, Fanie van Rensburg. “We were able to register more than 4,800 full-time students and over 1,000 part-time students in a three week period,” says van Rensburg.
