Cambium Networks launches PTP 810 high capacity wireless backhaul solution
Cambium Networks, a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions for reliable connectivity in any environment, has launched the Cambium PTP 810, a new point-to-point (PTP) wireless backhaul solution.
Tony Rodrigues, Regional Sales Manager at Cambium Networks, says: “There is an ever-increasing demand for converged voice, video and data. Service Providers and Network operators worldwide are transitioning their existing TDM (Time-division multiplexing) networks to IP-based systems and extending Ethernet technology across the entire network. The objectives of these migrations are to lower operational and maintenance costs, while supporting new packet-centric applications. However, migrating from TDM to IP-based Ethernet, without experiencing communication interruptions is extremely challenging. The TDM and Ethernet-based systems need to functionally co-exist to enable a seamless migration. PTP 810 is the ideal technology solution for addressing these challenges,” says Rodrigues.
“It enables carriers, utility, public safety and enterprise operators to seamlessly and cost effectively migrate existing TDM traffic to an IP-based Ethernet network. By minimising the time and expense involved in making this transition, operators now have a powerful and efficient communications system to support new and additional applications such as voice-over-IP, on-demand video and video surveillance. The PTP 810 also features XPIC functionality, enabling operators to double throughput capacity as differentiated data is transmitted simultaneously on both vertical and horizontal polarisations in a single channel.”
Rodrigues says: “With the addition of the PTP 810 product, Cambium now offers a robust portfolio of carrier-class, high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions covering a broad spectrum of licensed and licensed-exempt bands, and it is available for both Split-Mount and All-Indoor configurations, allowing network operators to choose the solution that best accommodates their unique business needs. Whether providing connectivity to long distance locations, backhauling video or providing last-mile access, the PTP 810 provides a smooth migration path for supporting both native Ethernet and native TDM in one platform.”
PTP 810 is built to ensure that evolving networks can benefit from the highest level of feature capabilities available. Key features of PTP 810 include:
•It supports native E1/T1 and native Ethernet with high capabilities and optimal performance in a single configurable software system
•Operates in the 6 – 38 GHz RF bands and with user-configured channel bandwidths from 7 to 80 MHz
•Supports ACM, Cross Polarisation Interference Cancellation (XPIC) and Ethernet link aggregation
•Scalable throughput to 700 Mbps (full duplex)
•Supports both T1/E1 and STM-1/OC-3 interfaces
•Supports protected PDH Ring with built in T1/E1 cross point switch
