AIG appoints Wayne Abraham as Managing Director of South Africa

AIG is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Abraham as Managing Director of South Africa effective immediately. He will report to Michael Whitwell, President AIG MEA.

Michael Whitwell said “Wayne brings an invaluable blend of knowledge, experience, energy, and leadership to this critical role. South Africa is a key market for AIG and is the largest country operation in MEA. I am confident that under Wayne’s leadership we will deliver profitable growth and continue to expand our business and market profile.”

“Wayne, who is originally from South Africa, has over 15 years experience in the general insurance industry with particular focus on Africa, as well as the Middle East and South Asia. As a key contributor to AIG’s growth plans in Africa, Wayne has been responsible for the significant advancement of our initiatives, particularly in West Africa. He is a trusted, dedicated and respected leader with an exceptional record of managing talent.”

Wayne joined AIG in 2002 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Africa and in 2007 he was appointed as Chief Operating Officer for Africa. Most recently Wayne has been based in Dubai as CFO for MEA as well as more recently acting General Manager in South Africa. He will relocate to South Africa to take on this role.
