App from Absa hits 50 000 downloads in 12 days

The App from Absa Banking Group, released less than two weeks ago has racked up more than 50 000 downloads in just 12 days after its release.

Absa’s Head of Retail Banking Arrie Rautenbach said: “User reviews and industry reaction have been fantastic towards our App. The exponential growth that our App has enjoyed together with the accolade of it being rated the number one App in the financial categories of App stores in South Africa just two days after its launch are testament to the functionality and usability that we worked so hard to perfect before launching it, while it still remains one of the leading Apps in the App stores.”

The App is the first native financial services app for smartphones and tablets in South Africa that is available for both retail and business customers alike. Customers can link multiple devices to a single account or conversely multiple accounts can be linked to a single device.

Says Rautenbach: “Our App has dominated customer conversations on social media channels and positive sentiment has been shared as new customers are discovering our App’s innovative features. Customers praise its speed and convenience – the fact that a customer can logon, check a balance and pay a beneficiary in less than one minute – while many also enjoy the calendar view of daily expenditure which is assisting them with managing their budgets more effectively.”

“Our App will continue to evolve over the coming months with additional functionality and features starting with the support for Blackberry devices in the next six weeks.

“The offering is aligned to Absa’s focus on its customer and places convenience at centre stage, making our customers’ lives easier,” concludes Rautenbach.

The App is currently available for Android and Apple smartphones and tablets.
