Absa announces its App availability for BlackBerry

Financial services group Absa Bank today unveiled its App for BlackBerry devices. The App is the realisation of Absa’s commitment to making the lives of its customers much easier and will see BlackBerry users enjoy the benefits that the App has already provided through the more than 133 000 downloads by customers on to Apple, Android and BlackBerry Z10 devices.

From today the customised App for BlackBerry devices running BB5, BB6 and BB7 operating systems is available in the BlackBerry App World.

Commenting on the new addition to Absa’s App platforms, Arrie Rautenbach head of Retail Bank says the technology incorporated into the App for BlackBerry integrates seamlessly with all other Absa digital banking channels. “Itadds many aspects of traditional transactional services like the ability to quickly check account balances, transfer funds between accounts, pay beneficiaries, perform a CashSend transaction and also purchase airtime for any network.”

Rautenbach points out that the App is available for both individual and business customers and will permit users to link multiple BlackBerrys, smartphones or tablets to a single profile or multiple banking profiles (business and personal accounts) to a single device.

“With the convenience and speed that the App provides, BlackBerry users can perform their banking transactions on-the-go with added security and convenience. As a security feature, the device is required to be linked to an Absa Online banking profile.

“This is a security feature to ensure that no unauthorised attempts can be made to access a customer’s banking profile via the App. Devices that are lost or changed can de-authorised while new devices that are identified by the App will be required to be and authorised by the customer,” he concludes.
