EMC offers IT professionals unique transformation opportunity
EMC Southern Africa is offering IT professionals a unique opportunity to transform their businesses by journeying further into the cloud, leveraging Big Data analytics to extract value from their information, securing their data, and glimpsing the future in virtualised, software-defined data centres.
Servaas Venter, Country Manager of EMC Southern Africa, says all this insight – and more – will be revealed at EMC Forum 2013. “The Forum will show IT professionals how EMC cloud solutions transform IT and business, enabling them to grasp the opportunity that arrives at the intersection where their Cloud Computing meets Big Data – both enterprise Big Data and unstructured Big Data,” he says.
EMC Forum 2013, a free one-day event, is being hosted by EMC Southern Africa on Tuesday, 13 August at The Westin in Cape Town and on Thursday, 15 August at Gallagher Conference Centre in Johannesburg.
The keynote presentation will be delivered by Howard Elias, President and Chief Operating Officer of EMC Information Infrastructure and Cloud Services. Elias has a wealth of information and insight to impart to the delegates and will be sharing his views on the top challenges and trends impacting enterprises today.
Elias has overall responsibility for setting the strategy, driving execution, and creating best practices for EMC services that enable customers’ journey to cloud computing.
“EMC Forum 2013 will enable IT professionals to connect and network with their peers from across South Africa as well as around the world,” Venter says. “They will hear local and international insights from high-calibre keynote speakers and presenters, as well as case studies featuring the latest integrated solutions from EMC and our partners. A highlight will be the results of a country-specific IT Transformation survey, which will disclose how businesses are approaching Big Data, IT transformation, and technology skills.
“To complete the package, a hand-picked selection of our partners will be exhibiting their products, and our VLab will offer hands-on experiences from EMC engineers. During the session, the leadership team will discuss the exciting new opportunities for partners, EMC’s vision and strategy for 2013 into 2014, and our Cloud, Big Data, and Trust initiatives. I believe it’s an excellent opportunity to begin the journey to lead any organisation’s transformation.”
Highlights on the agenda include topics such as: Lead your Cloud Transformation; Building Data Science Teams; Visibility and Security for the Virtualised Enterprise; Battling Cyber Crime with Cyber Intelligence; and Virtual Private Clouds: the Role of the Service Providers.
The list of sponsors and EMC partners which will be participating in EMC Forum 2013 encompasses Cisco, VMware, Dimension Data, Stortech, Brocade, Business Connexion, Intel, Internet Solutions, ITWeb, Sithabile, VCE, DataCentrix, First Technology and Varonis.
