RS Components offers exclusive availability on TE Connectivity resistor lab kits
25 kits provide wide range of resistance measurement features for power management, high precision, industrial and general-purpose applications
RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has announced exclusive availability of 25 resistor lab kits based on a prime selection of TE Connectivity’s fixed resistor series.
The TE resistor lab kits employ either thin-film or thick-film resistor technology and offer distinct features to provide a cost-effective resistance measurement platform for a wide range of applications.
Six of the kits are built around TE’s RL73 series – surface-mount (SMD) thick-film current sensing resistors with low Ohm resistance, which provide reduced power consumption in the design of low voltage power supplies and battery management applications. These devices feature a special metal glaze resistive element and a nickel barrier layer beneath the solder to prolong terminal life.
A further eight kits are based on the RN73 high stability precision resistor series, which offers a variety of power dissipations related to chip size ranging from 0402 to 2512. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of these devices descends to 5ppm/°C, whilst resistance tolerances are extremely low at 0.01%. These SMD thin-film resistors are produced with three sputtered layers to give optimum performance.
Also offering a high stability precision development environment are nine lab kits featuring TE’s CPF series. This thin-film resistor range provides TCR down to 15ppm/°C, and resistance tolerances of 0.01%.
All of the kits based on the RN73 and CPF high precision devices are specified in the Electronic Industries Association’s (EIA) standard IEC 63 E96 and E24 value grids, which are the preferred values for high accuracy and close tolerance requirements. Both resistor series feature accurate and uniform physical dimensions to ease placement in telemetry, sensing circuits, communications, industrial controls, and medical applications, for example.
For industrial and general-purpose use, a kit based on the high-power thick-film CRG series is available, offering a wide resistance range from 1 – 10M Ohms and tolerances of 1% and 5%.
A 3521 series-based resistor lab kit completes the set, combining low cost and high power characteristics. These SMD devices are suitable for auto placement in volume applications, including high frequency operations, owing to their short lead structure.
