RS Components multi-layer ceramic capacitors minimise costs in general-purpose electronics applications

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has enhanced its passive components offering with the introduction of a range of RS brand Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) in standard 7” or 13” reel quantities. These devices provide customers with a reduced-cost option on general-purpose capacitor parts ready for automatic pick-and-placement. Targeting a broad range of applications, such as mobile consumer devices or video and tuner designs among many others, these low inductance capacitors are also ideal for high-frequency applications.

The compact RS MLCC series is available in the popular 0603 (1.6 x 0.8 x 0.8mm) size and features a wide capacitance range from 1000pF to 10,0000pF (1 to 10nF), including 1000, 2200, 4700, 6800 and 10000pF devices and a choice of voltage ratings of 16, 50 or 100V. Devices in the range also come in the 0402 (1 x 0.5 x 0.5mm) size, with voltage ratings of 16 and 50V.

Most devices in the range feature a EIA Class 2 temperature-stable X7R dielectric, operating across the −55 to +125°C temperature range with capacitance tolerances of +/–15%, and are ideal for decoupling applications. Other options in the range use EIA Class 1 temperature-compensating C0G (NP0) materials.

The range conforms to EIAJ RC3402 and is also compatible with EIA RS198 and IEC PUB. 384-10 standards. Offering excellent solder ability characteristics, the range is suitable for flow and reflow soldering.
