Commvault, a global leader in enterprise data protection and information management, has recently appointed Gerhard Fourie as District Channel Manager for South Africa, adding Fourie’s considerable experience in data management and channel management to their collective set of skills.

Fourie, who comes from a strong IT sales and marketing background, will be responsible for overseeing Commvault’s entire go-to-market strategy for South Africa, from managing local distribution relationships with key partners – such as AxizWorkgroup and First Distribution – to driving sales success. His role will also include ensuring Commvault’s sales message is successfully delivered through partner sales management command lines.

“As Channel Manager for South Africa, my main function is to boost Commvault’s relationships with our channel and driving sales through them,” says Fourie. “As such, I will be taking the lead to support our partners, helping to boost their – and our – profitability by matching Commvault solutions to end user challenges.”

With over 12 years of Data Management experience, Fourie has gained much experience and earned a solid reputation in the industry. His career boasts a number of high level successes at top tier companies, all of which have helped him to get to where he is today. He has also obtained exposure to vendor relationship management, sales strategy development and marketing, gearing him for his current position.

Says Fourie, “My experience and insight into the industry has given me a unique ability to understand the goals of distributers, their resellers and the end user customers, and to align them with the objectives of the vendor so that they work synergistically to the mutual benefit and profit of all parties.”

Fourie aims to do more than just guide their partners on how to sell the Commvault solution. “I intend on becoming an integral part of our partners’ sales forces, providing them with the tools and communications needed in order for them to have the best possible chance of winning business and turning opportunities into revenue.”

When asked if he has any personal goals to achieve at Commvault, Fourie added that as Commvault has a solid reputation as a market leader and a valuable, innovative product portfolio, he plans to take these competitive advantages and further growth market share. Fourie also intends to assist South African companies to resolve the complexity associated with managing information and to turn data into a powerful strategic asset.

Fourie joined the Commvault team in June of this year and, a few months into it, is excited to be part of a forward thinking, innovative team and hopes to contribute positively to the continued growth of this industrious brand.
