Johan Scheepers, SE Director MESAT for CommVault in South Africa

Following Microsoft’s  recent launch of its new Azure enterprise-grade data centre in South Africa, Commvault, a global leader in enterprise backup, recovery, archive and the cloud, has reaffirmed its commitment to optimising and protecting local organisations’ data in the Microsoft environment.

As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Commvault is among the first to be Azure Certified thereby enabling the Commvault data management solution to run just as efficiently in Azure Stack and Azure Public Cloud as it does on-premises.

Johan Scheepers, Systems Engineering Director for MESAT, says, “Microsoft’s recent launch of its local data centre will create a paradigm shift in the local market with regards to cloud adoption. More South African businesses are now looking to embrace the public cloud where data is stored ‘in country’ and will therefore need comprehensive data management solutions that leverage the best platforms and software. Commvault’s Data Platform and Azure certified software, enables the enterprise to manage both on-premise and cloud-based data through a single platform, significantly reducing complexity and increasing visibility,” Scheepers adds.

One of the challenges that Commvault solves is the task of migrating data to Azure cloud environments and importantly, maintaining complete visibility and control over this data, irrespective of where it resides. Commvault delivers a solution that enables businesses to manage their data with a single platform and provides a ‘single pane of glass’ for hybrid and public Azure cloud environments.

Commvault’s solution also allows businesses to quickly migrate data and workloads back and forth between Azure Stack hybrid cloud, Azure public cloud, other clouds, on-premise and legacy infrastructures.

“Commvault’s 20-year relationship with Microsoft and its usage of Commvault in products like Xbox, Microsoft Office 365 and ADP, has enabled us to deliver best practices to customers on a global scale. The unveiling of the new local data centre will also provide Commvault with the opportunity to show local business how we can simplify migration, management, protection and activation of data on Azure Stack and Azure Public Cloud,” Scheepers concludes.
