With the new year under way many people may have already given up on their dreams and goals for 2016, but Jumping Bean, a leading open source solutions integration and training company, announced today that it wants to help some achieve their 2016 new years resolutions! “We are holding a competition to give away two free LPI training sessions”, said Peter Hlope, Jumping Bean’s training manager.

“We know from the high level of demand for our LPI training, and the demand from employers for the certification, that there are many people, who are either in IT or wanting to get into IT, that would like to attend our LPI courses. Unfortunately the poor economy makes this impossible for some, so we are going to run a competition to try and assist 2 candidates”, continued Hlope. In order to enter the competition entrants must sign up for Jumping Bean’s monthly newsletter. Entrants can subscribe to the newsletter at Jumping Bean Newsletter site. The monthly newsletter is choc full of insights and information about the trends in open source and training. “Our Linux Tip of the Month section is particularly popular”, said Hlope.

Hlope also said that Jumping Bean hopes to implement a bursary type scheme for deserving, financially constrained students. “Currently we don’t have the spare cappacity to manage such a programme”, said Hlope, “but we really would like to be able to assess the financial needs of those who apply, and then give those who did well in maths and science in matic or who can demonstrate a high level of competence in those subjects if you have been out of school for a while, the chance they deserve.”

When asked about the other popular courses at Jumping Bean such as Oracles Java certification and the Certified Ethical Hacker course Hlope replied that this was something that was being considered but that since a component of these costs where US dollar based it made it more difficult to do.

The competition will run form today till the 22nd February 2016 when the winners will be announced at the Johannesburg Linux User Group’s (JoziLUG) February meetup. The winners will be entitled to attend a 4 day long LPI 101 and LPI 102 instructor lead course at Jumping Bean’s Johannesburg office.
