Consumer electronics giant, LG announced celebrated Cape Town based Graphic Designer, Lisa Ting Chong as the latest visual art pioneer to take over the LG South Africa Instagram account for a full week to profile the Korean manufacturer’s flagship smartphone, the LG G4.

Lisa’s Instagram bio reads, “Cape Town based Graphic Designer. I don’t read books. I read pictures.” A quick glimpse through her Instagram feed @lisatingchong, it’s easy to see how she was the perfect choice for the G4 takeover.  Her wealth of knowledge and skills within the design space lends itself in the pictures she produces and it’s evident in how differently she reads pictures, which translates into beautiful simplicity that one would never have noticed otherwise.

Lisa is no stranger to the Instagram realm. In addition to serving as a member of @_rsa_minimal, she was amongst the first Instagrammer to be selected to exhibit at the Johannesburg Photo and Film Expo in 2013 as part of Snapgram. She has also served as a judge for the @instageeksza Instagram competition.

The propagation of social media has led to increased debate about the best consumer engagement tactics. LG is however proving the notion that today’s consumers want to be engaged at a more fun and non-traditionalist level. Such a level of engagement is easily achieved by choosing the right host, who embodies elements that are tantamount to the brand promise. This is the premise on which LG has chosen to introduce its consumer to inspiring imagery while also getting an opportunity to connect to new communities.

“We have engaged acknowledged photographers Tim Moolman, Rowan Eva, Alexi Portokallis and Ofentse Mwase to capture magnificent images with the LG G4”, says Thomas van der Linde, GM Marketing. These digital events opens a visual experience to the consumer on one of the most engaging visual platforms.

Throughout the takeovers, followers have an opportunity to enter as many times to stand a chance of winning a Vega Smartphone photography course. To win, followers will need to regram their favourite #LGG4Takeover photo, tag the relevant takeover host and @lgsouthafrica.
