Gary Allemann, MD at Master Data Management

The hyper-connected world companies operate in today has brought with it the advent of the digital economy.  However, this has introduced a new kind of threat – cyber fraud and threats committed by super-devious cyber criminals. Fortunately, data analytics and big data is fast evolving into the best line of defence against fraud and bribery. Staying ahead of the curve has never been more integral to an organisations sustainability as cyber criminals continue to grow.

Gary Allemann, MD at Master Data Management,  will be presenting at the Fraud Analytics Conference on the 5th of April at 13:40pm. The conference is presented by Trade Conference International (TCI and will be hosted at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways, Johannesburg on the 5th & 6th of April 2017.

Allemann will discuss how data supports fraud analytics. He will also take delegates through the establishment data management systems, how to conduct organisational screening against legislations and report suspicious activity, as well as how to establish customer due diligence systems.

Based on a global survey of KPMG professionals who investigated 750 fraudsters between March 2013 and August 2015, only 3 percent were detected using proactive, fraud-focused analytics, compared with 44 percent who were found by means of whistle-blower mechanism and other forms of tip-off.

Says Allemann, “These statistics make a compelling reason for businesses to attend the conference and gain a greater understanding of how Data Management  is instrumental in combatting fraud and risk.  It not only forms part of good corporate governance but also provides the ability for organisations to be proactive in their security strategies.”

Interesting talks will be held on the gathering and storing of relevant data, mining it for patterns, discrepancies and anomalies; and how to use the findings to translate this knowledge into actionable insights that allow financial institutions to manage potential threats and develop a proactive fraud detection environment.

MDM together with TCI invites all specialists dealing with fraud analytics to attend this informing event and witness the industry experts discuss new technology advancements and touching on subjects like IT forensics, visual analytics and automating and streamlining the fraud vetting processes.
