Upcoming Collibra webinar: Is a data catalogue critical to a modern data pipeline?
Modern data pipelines are more complex than traditional data warehousing pipelines. They must support a multiplicity of data sources, data types, and use cases; they must be designed and deployed in an agile manner; they must support batch, mini-batch, and streaming data flows, and, they must meet service level agreements for data quality, availability, and consistency.
Says Gary Allemann, MD at Collibra partner, Master Data Management, “Data catalogues are critical to support modern data pipelines. They can automate the tagging and organisation of ingested content and derived data sets, harmonisse data flowing through multiple new and existing pipelines, support data curation processes, and enable business users to explore content for analysis.”
According to Gartner, data catalogues are no longer hype but reality in their reports titled “Data Catalogues are the new black in data management and analytics”. The research house states that demand for data catalogues is soaring as organisations struggle to inventory distributed data assets to facilitate data monetisation and conform to regulations. Gartner believes that data catalogue projects will fall short of their full potential if data and analytics leaders don’t link them to broader data management needs.
Collibra will be hosting a webinar, through the Bloor Group, that delves into the role of data catalogues in managing modern data pipelines along with supplemental services. The webinar will be held on the 19th of September 2018 at 1:00pm. Click here to register.
