Internationally renowned CBAP® and PMP® professionals, Richard and Elizabeth Larson will be visiting South Africa in August as guests of Faculty Training Institute. Richard and Elizabeth are the co-founders and principals of globally recognised business analysis and project management training firm, Watermark Learning Inc, which is headquartered in Minneapolis, USA.
Richard Larson is a contributor to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge version 2.0, the head of the Review Committee for the BABOK® Guide 1.6 and 2.0, and contributor to the 4th edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge. He and his wife Elizabeth Larson have co-authored the acclaimed CBAP® Certification Study Guide 2.0 and the Practitioner’s Guide to Requirements Management: Requirements Planning handbooks for business analysts. Elizabeth and Richard were lead contributors to the PMBOK® Guide – Fourth Edition (Collect Requirements). Elizabeth was lead contributor to the BABOK® Guide 2.0 chapter Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, to a White Paper on the collaboration between the PM and BA, and is the content lead for Scope Management for the PMBOK® Guide – Fifth Edition. Richard chaired the review Committee of BABOK® Guide Version 2.0.
FTI’s strategic relationship with Watermark Learning will see a range of new short course offerings being made available in South Africa. “The roll out of initial courses will include the CBAP® Certification Preparation Workshop, Business Analysis Fundamentals, Influencing without Authority and the Requirements Modelling Essentials courses,” says Steve Erlank, MD of FTI.
Watermark Learning’s comprehensive CBAP® Certification Preparation Workshop, is running in Johannesburg from 3-5 August and in Cape Town from 10-12 August. “This definitive and intensive workshop will prepare business analysts for the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) exam and assist individuals preparing to sit the exam to make the most of their limited study time” says Erlank.
Both the Cape Town and the Johannesburg courses in August will be run by Richard Larson, CBAP, PMP. Larson has over 30 years of experience in business analysis and project management training and consulting and has presented numerous workshops, seminars and training classes to thousands of participants on 3 different continents. Richard Larson is also the chief architect for the CBAP® and PMP® Online Study exams from Watermark Learning, an exam simulator product that helps CBAP, CCBA and PMP candidates pass their exam on the first try. “FTI is very proud to be able to bring this training programme to South Africa”, says Erlank.
Business analysts can also look forward to a course run by Elizabeth Larson, CBAP, PMP, CSM in Cape Town from 10-11 August. The title of this course is Influencing Without Authority. Attendees of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn how to establish enough influence over key stakeholders to get work done when they have no “real” authority over them.
Elizabeth Larson has over 25 years of project management and business analysis experience and has presented workshops, seminars and training classes on 3 different continents.
The Business Analysis Fundamentals 3 day course is also a new offering that will be added to FTI’s bouquet of courses for business analysts. The course is scheduled to run from 3-5 August in Johannesburg. “This course trains participants to help business clients articulate their needs and wants and to document them clearly, concisely and completely,” says Erlank.
The Requirements Modelling Essentials 2 day course has been designed for business analysts, project managers, developers and anyone who is involved in software development projects. This course will help delegates to master the most challenging part of a project by getting the stakeholders’ requirements right and uncovers many methods, tools, models and techniques to help elicit and analyse user requirements.
