Redstor has focused its vision to better develop the products that its customers most want and will save the most time and money, the company revealed at its partner event in Johannesburg.
85% of Redstor’s gross profits come from partners, and the company values its recurring relationships as this is where 95% of its gross profits are from.
Redstor is a leading global provider of cloud backup and disaster recovery software and services, combining technical excellence with proven processes to deliver innovative, flexible and secure cloud IT services that reduce risks and cost.
Redstor has been operating in the cloud space since 1999, before the term was invented and data became ‘big’.
Its first backup agent provided organisations with a reliable solution to their data recovery requirements and was followed by a second iteration in 2002, the Server Edition Backup Agent.
“We as a business have to keep innovating, and that is very much part of our culture,” said Paul Evans, Redstor CEO.
“We are focusing on being customer-centric, and listening to our customers and keeping an eye on global trends is what drives our innovation. If we don’t save our customers time and money, then we’d be wasting our time.”
In order to better assist customers, Redstor now has monthly releases that are based on hundreds of service reviews, as well as feedback from Power Users who use the product the most.
Every other week, Redstor’s team also engages in “Research and Innovation (RnI)” to brainstorm and better tailor their products to meet customers’ needs.
Among the products that Redstor is focused on is the Enterprise Server Edition (ESE), which is now released on a two-month rolling product roadmap so that clients get the updates sooner and on a more regular basis, explained Danie Marais, Director of Product Management at Redstor.
This is in addition to the monthly releases that are released to the Power Users, who provide feedback that is incorporated into the public release, making the releases far more Agile.
The ESE can backup millions of files far more swiftly, along with parallel backups, better encryption technology and the ability to backup Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange.
New features that have been introduced at the request of customers include HTTP Proxy, Backup Scripts, Email notifications, Network Throttle, Event Logging, Backup Operator, and an Interface Revamp.
“If you look at these new features, it is clear that we have listened to what our customers want and need in order to be more profitable,” Marais says.
This customer-centric focus has served Redstor well, and the company is enjoying growth both internationally and locally, and Redstor is committed to investing in South Africa and will be recruiting more people to its South African office, Evans revealed.
“We are also a very people-focused company, and we are actively engaging third party developers while we continue to grow our own team, training them to be more customer-focused,” Evans adds.
