The Proline XV-502 smartphone is sleek, modern and virtually shatterproof, with a tempered glass screen for those unforeseen accidents – impressively priced at only R1,595.

The smartphone features dual SIM slots, both with 150Mbps LTE support, a quad-core MediaTek MT6735M CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and a 2000mAh battery.

The phone is just under 8mm thick and has a 5.0-inch screen with an array of 960×540 pixels, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera.

“With all these features, the Proline XV-502 smartphone offers a high performance-to-price ratio on the market,” Max Stone, Brand Director at Pinnacle Africa, told attendees at Pinnacle TechScape 2017.

Technology is rapidly advancing in the smartphone market, driven by the need to keep smartphones relevant to consumers today.

“All technology changes, and there is a big challenge for manufacturers to make smartphones exciting because if you look at the curve, smartphones are starting on a downward trend,” Stone added.

The uptake of smartphones has been largely enabled by the increase in global Internet users and penetration, with only access to electricity preventing 100% adoption.

“Smartphones are getting faster, bigger and better, with as much screen in as compact a phone as possible, and display will be a big factor in the smartphones of the future,” Stone said.
