In today’s highly connected world, customers expect a seamless experience and Infoprotect assisted Nando’s in building a faster and safer network.

“While proudly South African, Nando’s is an international flame-grilling, PERi-PERi chicken restaurant group that needs to be one step ahead to ensure we continuously deliver the experience our customers have come to expect when dining with us,” said Stephen Brookstein, Technology Manager at Nando’s South Africa, speaking at the Infoprotect Showcase.

“Issues such as payment connectivity problems result in a poor customer experience, and we needed to ensure a seamless experience within our restaurants. What’s taking Nando’s in a new direction is the integration of information technology, which is creating a richer customer experience.”

Nando’s restaurants always need to be online or risk losing revenue. In early 2016, Nando’s began to revamp its networking infrastructure, with an aim for a cloud-based point of sale environment in the near future.

“We develop our IT to run a scalable, sustainable and great business that continuously delivers an enhanced and seamless experience for both our customers and our employees,” added Brookstein. “With Infroprotect, we looked at setting up a unified and stable communication platform across our entire domain, with centrally managed 3G failover, while managing the traffic on the lines to prioritise the important data.”

Infoprotect is a leading Information Communication Technology Solution provider that offers managed solutions from five pillars; IT security, internet service provider and cloud, information management, Wi-Fi as a service and networking.

To offer Nando’s a reliable, secure solution, Infoprotect partnered with Cradlepoint, a global leading provider of cloud-based, wired and wireless wide area network solutions for distributed and mobile enterprises.

The solution focuses on a primary asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) with managed failover to 3G, which is managed and monitored by Infoprotect.

“This solution is so effective that Infoprotect often identify and manage problems before the restaurants are aware of it,” Brookstein explained. “However, the only time we ever lose connectivity is when the power is physically cut from the building during power failures.”

With Infoprotect’s help, Nando’s has also been able to deploy software centrally, which has assisted Nando’s in meeting targets. The company also deployed an enhanced multi-tiered approach that is ultimately managed by Infoprotect.

“Since the beginning of the year we have significantly increased performance at all our restaurants nationwide, with the help of Infoprotect.”

It took about 12 weeks to deploy Cradlepoint across the entire Nando’s estate, converting up to 20 restaurants in a single day

“We put our hearts in this project, and this has really helped us to deliver a better service within the Nando’s Group – it’s been a game changer,” Brookstein concluded.
