Licensed National Telecom Operator Ends First Full Year of Business With Nationwide Presence, Wireless Network Deployment, Major Partnership Deals, Expanded Digital Voice Services and PTT Services

O-Tel Telecom , Licensed National Telecom Operator, ended its first full year of business, having achieved nationwide office presence and record number of customer sign-ups. In 2009, O-Tel Telecom signed agreements with leading PBX Distributors and Resellers in all the provinces in South Africa; launched the deployment of it’s own wireless network; and introduced a number of expanded voice services such as Push-To-Talk over GSM. Exceeding estimated growth and market penetration calculations by over 300%.

Throughout 2009, clients using O-Tel’s services consistently judged O-Tel Telecom as excellent in regular customer satisfaction surveys, while the client base to the O-Tel Voice service increased steadily at a 60 percent each month. The company added more servers, larger fibre pipes, more agents and gained momentum with SME’s nationally. O-Tel Telecom ended the year with record number of visits and applications via its website www.otelafrica.com .

O-Tel Telecom also continued to receive a great number of agency applications from PBX installers and distributors wanting partnership and area representation throughout the year. However, after careful vetting, many applications were declined. O-Tel apparently wants to partner with only the well established players.

As a result of its consistent growth and success during the past year, O-Tel moved into it’s own newly built O-Tel Building in Boksburg to meet the need of good Training Facilities, a Network Control room, and to ensure it can continue to meet rapidly growing demand.

“By pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, we have managed to grow rapidly yet stably,” said Mohammad Patel, CEO of O-Tel. “This growth has enabled us to initiate plans for dramatic expansion in our network coverage, so we’re confident that we’ll be able to go on providing world-class service and expertise as demand continues to rise. And, with the outstanding customer and agent relationships and perfect agent representation strategy, we are extremely optimistic about the road ahead.”

“We are in-undated with PBX and ICT companies wanting to partner up, after seeing the very lucrative partnership program O-Tel offers compared to the incumbents and competitors. ” adds Patel.

In 2009, O-Tel has established presence in George, Garden Route, Port Elizabeth, East Rand, Newcastle, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Nelspruit. East London and North West are currently under negotiations.

“2009 was a tremendous year for growth in all areas of our business,” said Ian Mirk, O-Tel representative in Port Elizabeth and Managing Director of Sadiba Communications. “We’re overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response we’ve received from our customers in Port Elizabeth, and we’re deeply honored by to win the trust of the majority of SME’s and Corporate in the Eastern Cape. It just shows that a winning product backed by outstanding and personal service is a winning formula. ”

Nationwide Presence, Client Growth

In 2009, O-Tel Telecom surpassed all its expectations to meet its network and customer sign-ups. Supported by an infrastructure of multiple servers, good backhaul structure, and it’s own Last Mile Connectivity, O-Tel expects to have a full nationwide coverage and presence by the end of 2010, although realistically, due to the interruption of the World Cup, and the tremendous amount of red tape for infrastructure layout, this goal should be achieved towards third quarter of 2011.

Push-To-Talk

O-Tel Telecom further expanded its services to a Push-To-Talk system, which is simply a two way radio service over the local GSM networks.

“ We currently have numerous large corporate companies currently testing the service. It works particularly well in the mining, security, and transport companies where radio reach is always a problem. Now the Radio Controller can get hold of any recipient and talk a message through either privately or to a group. The messages also get saved as history. This New Generation Half-Duplex Communication System is set to replace the dinosaur wireless radio system very quickly.” remarks Mohammad Patel
