SAP Africa, subsidiary of SAP SE began business operations in 1982, headquartered in Woodmead – Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. SAP Africa market unit has approximately 700 employees in total and has a footprint of over 2 700 active customers in Africa across all industries. SAP has presence in Africa through the six main regional hubs namely: North Africa, Southern Africa, East Africa, West Africa, French-speaking Africa, and Portuguese-speaking Africa supporting a total of 54 countries in Africa.
In 1992 SAP SE purchased Sapient Systems and SAP Southern Africa, the first wholly owned Subsidiary of SAP was established in South Africa. This led to more successes in 1996 when the first customer outside of South Africa was established on the African Continent.
