Schneider Electric’s success was achieved with the StruxureWare Demand Side Operation cloud-based platform which was recognized as an innovative sustainable tool for the utility industry.
Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare Demand Side Operation solution triumphed at the European Utility Industry Awards ceremony on November 4 in Vienna. As part of the European Utility Week where over 10,000 smart energy professionals met in Austria to share insights on how the energy sector can move forward, the awards highlighted outstanding commitment and accomplishments within a growing sustainable utility industry.
The StruxureWare Demand Side Operation cloud-based platform helps “Prosumers*” use energy at the right time when it’s available, sustainable and cheap. The 72 hours forecast system enables energy managers to optimize their consumption. Flexibility management at the demand side level used to be manually managed. StruxureWare Demand Side Operation optimizes Prosumers’ energy assets automatically and allows access to energy management to non-specialists such as commercial buildings. Utilities can thus use demand side flexibility as an additional lever to balance the electrical system.
Efficient management of Distributed Energy Resources allows Prosumers to maximize their consumption of their renewable self-generation – mainly coming from renewable sources such as solar panels while minimizing peaks for utilities, which helps save fossil fuel consumption and therefore greenhouse gas emissions.
