Master Data Management launches two new eLearning courses – Web Analytics and Location Intelligence and GIS

Sep 9th, 2016

Master Data Management partner, eLearningCurve has launched two new business intelligence courses focussing on Web analytics and Location Intelligence and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

These courses add to the eLearning course curriculum of over 80 EIM courses that are helping to reduce the severe shortage of skilled data management professionals in Africa.

“As a supplier of Enterprise Information Management solutions we recognise that the shortage of skills has a severe impact on our customer’s ability to truly take advantage of information,” says Master Data Management MD, Gary Allemann. “These new courses offer additional options to professionals that wish to join the ranks of the Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP) while allowing companies to develop more diverse business intelligence capabilities.”

Web analytics

Due to the increase in Internet availability, usage and devices, Web analytics has quickly evolved. As a result of the increase in data, many companies are integrating their Web analytics data with data from other sources and performing analytics to understand customer behaviour and enable highly individualised marketing. Through the course, Business Intelligence (BI) professionals together with technology and information leaders are provided with an overview of Web analytics, as well as analytics techniques and applications that are suitable to the context of Web data.

Location Intelligence and Geographic Information Systems

Location Intelligence can be achieved by commercial businesses with the use of Geographic Information Systems. A Geographic Information System (or GIS) is a relational database technology that enables both analysis and visualisation of geographic, demographic, and other types of geospatial data.

While all levels of government, military, engineering & scientific consultants, and academic organisations have been successfully using GIS for a variety of applications, commercial businesses have been slow to adopt the technology in order to provide better Location Intelligence for their BI operations.

This online training course provides IT and BI professionals with an overview of GIS software with the goal of demonstrating how to use the technology to build Location Intelligence. Business executives and managers can now also understand the potential and the complexities of location-based analysis
